About Us

We are a non-denominational church that seeks to follow Jesus and live according to the Bible.

Here are the core beliefs that shape our life together:

The Church

We believe the church is not a building or a programme — it’s people. Every believer is part of the body of Christ and has been given gifts and a role to play. We’re called to love one another, encourage one another, and serve together as a spiritual family. Our church is led by elders who guide and teach the Bible, but every member of the congregation has gifts to contribute and a vital part to play in the life of the church. We value authentic relationships, accountability, and learning to live out what the Bible teaches together.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God — completely trustworthy, without error, and our ultimate authority for faith and life. It’s through Scripture that God speaks to us, teaches us, and guides us in following Him.

God

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, yet there is one God. This mystery of the Trinity is at the heart of who God is. God the Father is the first person of the Trinity, who is the eternal Creator and sustainer of all things. He is sovereign over all creation, loves us as His children, and sent His Son to redeem the world.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is God’s Son, born of a virgin, fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended to heaven. He is the only way to know God and receive eternal life.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the person who is the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, transforming us from the inside out. He convicts us of sin, helps us grow to become more like Jesus, provides comfort, and empowers us to live for God. The Spirit gives spiritual gifts to every believer — including prophecy, healing, tongues, teaching, service, and many others. These gifts are given as God chooses, when He chooses, for the building up of the church and the good of others.

Salvation

We believe that all people are sinners in need of salvation. Salvation is God’s gracious gift of rescuing us from sin, death, and separation from Him through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It cannot be earned but is received by faith alone in Christ alone, resulting in forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and eternal life. Through salvation, we are adopted as God’s children and begin a lifelong transformation into the likeness of Jesus.

Baptism

We practise believer’s baptism by full immersion for those who have put their faith in Jesus. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change — a public declaration of faith and obedience to Christ. It doesn’t save us, but it’s an important step of obedience for every believer.

Communion

We celebrate communion regularly – often on the first Sunday of the month, remembering Jesus’ death and resurrection. This is a time for believers to reflect on what Christ has done for us and to look forward to His return. Communion is open to all who have trusted in Jesus as their Saviour.

Humanity and Marriage

We believe God created people in His image, male and female, each with equal worth and dignity. Marriage is a gift from God, designed as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s love for the church.

Eternity

We believe in the reality of heaven and hell. Those who trust in Jesus receive eternal life with God. Those who reject Him face eternal separation from God.

Our Mission

At the centre of everything we do is a real person — Jesus — and our desire is to live out our faith authentically, in relationship with God and one another.

Meet the team

Elder-led

Real Church is led by a team of elders who shepherd and teach together. This is the consistent pattern we see throughout the New Testament. The Real Church elders are: Andrew Bruff, Peter Cannone and Joe Stivey.

According to Scripture, elders are called to:

Lead the church – 1 Timothy 5:17: ‘Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in preaching and teaching’; Titus 1:7; 1 Peter 5:1-2

Teach and preach the Word – 1 Timothy 3:2: ‘Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach’; 2 Timothy 4:2: ‘preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching’; Titus 1:9

Protect the church from false teachers – Acts 20:28-31: ‘Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert.’

Instruct and rebuke in sound doctrine – Titus 1:9: ‘He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.’
Visit the sick and pray – James 5:14: ‘Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.’

Settle questions about biblical teaching – Acts 15:6: ‘The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter.’

Elders shepherd, rule, direct, and manage by means of teaching Scripture. The only authority any elder has is in so far as they are correctly applying the Word of God.

Our Elders

Read. Learn. Grow.

We want to help equip the saints and share useful resources that will help you grow in your faith. Here are some online tools for studying the Bible and deepening your relationship with God.

Bible Gateway – www.biblegateway.com

Bible Gateway is one of the most popular online Bible resources, offering dozens of Bible translations in multiple languages. You can easily search for verses, compare different translations side by side, and read the Bible in a clear, user-friendly format. It’s perfect for quickly looking up a passage, exploring different ways a verse is translated, or reading through books of the Bible at your own pace. Bible Gateway also includes helpful reading plans, devotionals, and audio Bibles if you prefer to listen.

Blue Letter Bible – www.blueletterbible.org

Blue Letter Bible is an excellent tool for deeper Bible study. Beyond offering multiple translations, it provides access to the original Hebrew and Greek texts with Strong’s Concordance numbers, allowing you to explore the meaning of individual words in their original languages. You’ll find commentaries from trusted scholars, cross-references to related passages, dictionaries, and study tools that help you understand the context and meaning of Scripture.

What Does a Typical Service Look Like?

Our doors open shortly after 10:00 am, and you’re warmly invited to join us for free tea, coffee, juice, and biscuits before the service begins. It’s a great time to meet others and feel at home.

The service starts at 10:30 am – The service includes a time of worship, led from the front, with song lyrics displayed on screen so everyone can join in easily. During worship, we encourage people to share prayers, Bible readings, encouragements, or other spiritual gifts as they feel led — though there’s no pressure to do so.

One of our elders will share a Bible-based sermon. We usually teach verse by verse through books of the Bible, helping us understand God’s Word in context. When the service finishes, we share more refreshments and fellowship — a relaxed time to chat, connect, pray, ask questions and encourage one another.
